Baltimore Metal Works (B.M.W.) is a division of The General Ship Repair Corporation specializing in industrial fabrication and repair.

We have been serving Baltimore factories and businesses for over ninety (90) years from the same location. Our capabilities have been recognized by many corporations and government agencies who use our facilities for a wide range of repairs and fabrications. We perform work from the smallest of emergency repairs to large scale fabrication projects. Fabrications too large to move over land may be shipped by barge from our waterfront location. Our services include machining, fabrications, piping systems, and on-site recommendations for mechanical or structural repairs.

Our Machine Shop has lathe capacity up to 27 ft., center to center. We offer Rigging and Millwright service. Our Pipe Shop is complete with bending capabilities. We have a large Fabrication Shop with certified welders. Shearing, rolling, and forming can be done using a wide range of materials. Our Paint Shop uses airless spray painting equipment for standard to exotic coatings. Surfaces are prepared by sandblasting, waterblasting, or power wire brush. We have portable Ultra High Pressure (UHP) water blasting equipment that can be set up for use at your facility.

Miscellaneous services include ultrasonic thickness gauging, competent person (checks for explosive gases and oxygen levels), dye check (method of locating cracks in steel), dynamometer and certified weights (load testing of cranes and rigging gear up to 500,000 lbs.), magnetic particle testing, air and hydro testing of pipes and other pressure vessels.

All shops are portable for completion of work at your plant or at our facility and we are available 24 hrs. per day for emergency repairs. Our Field Service capabilities include installations.
