The General Ship Repair Corporation has completed the re-activation/overhaul of two former Island Class Coast Guard cutters Key Biscayne and Grand Isle (renamed Rafaqat and Sabqat) May 30th, 2017. The contract was part of a Foreign Military Sales transfer to the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency.
The cutters are 110 ft. LOA, 21 ft. Beam with a Draft of 6.5 ft. They are powered by two Caterpillar 3516 main engines and reach speeds up to an impressive 29.5 knots with a 3,300 mile range.
These vessels will be operated at the Coast Guard Yard to train the Pakistani officers and crew prior to delivering the vessels on a heavy lift ship to Pakistan.
